Progress (participle “Progressing”): move forward or onward in space or time.  Advance or develop toward a better, more complete, or more modern state.

Wow!  Phase II is progressing very nicely!  If you haven’t seen it in a while you should stop in a take a look.  We are excited to see this incredible expansion of facility moving forward, and opening up advancement of ministry.  It is easy to see this developing project of a building that is more and more complete, but I am very excited for the onward ministry that hasn’t been so easy to see.

One year ago in the September Newsletter (2013) I placed a list of items that resulted from round table discussions about moving forward as a congregation.  This is what has happened in 1 year:

Men’s Ministry – Men’s Stepping Up event; Men’s Bible Class on 1 st  Saturday of the month 7 a.m.

After School Program

Emergency Shelter

Mission Trips – Supported multiple mission trips; Alleluia heading to Uganda Africa 2016

Staffing: DCE or Youth Pastor

Sunday School – Have painted vision/mission for Sunday School; new faces volunteering

Family Ministry – Keep a family focus; involve families; Family fun events; Summer Family Bible Study

Matthews Home – Singing; Pastoral visits; funeral service at the home

Families with Young Children – See Family Ministry; Child care has been provided at multiple events

Volunteers – Utilizing, connecting, and valuing the volunteers we have; a focus at council level

Church Cleaning – A great team continues to volunteer to clean; door is open for others to help

Couple’s Ministry – A weekend to Remember; The Art of Marriage; Alleluia Couples Together

Evangelism – Walking neighborhoods; Church Picnic; Pastor Coaching; meal/show for police/firemen

Communication – Council notes on back table; updates after worship services

Softball field/league

Prayer Chain – Uses the church email addresses to share prayer requests

Puppets – Encouraged but no leadership at this time

Wow!  Now that is a whole lot of progress from ideas raised within the congregation.  A lot of action has taken place to move forward in mission and ministry along our congregational values.  It is not always easy to see this side of Alleluia progressing, but it is!  There are still items that have not been fully addressed, and we will continue to evaluate and develop as the congregation moves forward.  Projects are being completed and the state of this congregation is healthy as we move into a new school year.  The opportunities to make a difference are open and available.  Difference makers continue to step forward and keep ministry vitalized.

The progression shown here is not just because leadership is active, but because you and Alleluia’s members are living as the body of Christ.  Here is how Paul describes it in Romans 12:6-13:

Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, in proportion to our faith; if service, in our serving; the one who teaches, in his teaching; the one who exhorts, in his exhortation; the one who contributes, in generosity; the one who leads, with zeal; the one who does acts of mercy, with cheerfulness.  Let love be genuine.  Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good.  Love one another with brotherly affection.  Out do one another in showing honor.  Do not be slothful in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord.  Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer.  Contribute to the needs of the saints and seek to show hospitality.

Here is our focus as we continue to move forward, as we progress in facility and ministry.  Working together we can accomplish much for our Lord and His kingdom here on this earth and eternally.  When we meditate on this message in Romans and act this out in our daily living we will offer the vibrant gift of Jesus in this modern world.  Ministry continues in the time and space that God gives us.  Praise Him from whom all blessings flow!

Progressing with you, Pastor Aaron
